The 7th Annual Bigger Picture Show

In 2010, I designed what would be my first Bigger Picture Show poster. I was still a design student at the time. Of course I procrastinated until the week it was due and had a few all-night-long evenings of shooting photos and inspecting every pixel. The Bigger Picture Show tasks Indy designers with reimagining classic movie posters and pairs that with a great venue, local beer and food trucks. People can bid on each poster, raising money for the Indy Film Fest. I believe there were around 30 local designers showing posters that year. Each year the number of designers grew and quickly became an event I looked forward to every year.

Fast-forward to 2016 – I still procrastinate, the show has outgrown a few venues and the pool of designers, donating their brains and time to raise money for the Indy Film Fest, has ballooned to 68. Four (technically 5) of those 68 work right here at CVR. The image above is just a sneak peek of our work. Katie and Paige teamed up to take a fresh look at Good Burger. Jared cooked up his version of Ratatouille. Brian finished his pass at Friday just in time to say “Bye, Felicia” before going on vacation. I broke out my watercolors to give my take on Eyes Wide Shut.

As is usually the case, I’m sure this year will be even better than the last. The team at Lodge Design always does a great job organizing the show. What’s not to like about movies, design, beer and food? So, if you’re into even one of those things, you should probably join us at this year’s Bigger Picture Show.
