This summer’s been blazing by for everyone it seems, and that is no exception for all of us here at CVR. In fact, ours was jump-started with a unique project from Ivy Tech Community College: President’s Award Recipient videos. The College was divided into 14 regions, and from each region, one faculty member was honored with the President’s Award for Excellence in Instruction, qualifying them to be nominated for the Founder’s Award, Ivy Tech’s highest honor. The winner of the Founder’s Award would be announced live at a special reception.
For the reception, Ivy Tech wanted to highlight the achievements of these talented faculty. To properly share the impact these 14 instructors have on the campuses and students they serve, Ivy Tech tasked CVR to create a video for each nominee… and thus the “World Tour of Indiana” began.
In just over a month, the CVR team crisscrossed Indiana, visiting everywhere from Sellersburg to Valparaiso, Terre Haute to Batesville and everywhere in between. At each campus, the President-Award-winning instructor was interviewed along with several students and Ivy Tech staff. Since spring semester ended just before CVR hit the road, many students and faculty traveled to campus on their own time to speak on behalf of these instructors, a true testament to the incredible work they do.
Each visit consisted of interviews and capturing b-roll to show the diversity of disciplines, locations and people. Once back in the office for editing, the similarities between stand-out instructors became clear and it was obvious that this faculty is passionate about teaching. At the end of the tour, CVR was able to deliver 14 individual videos for the event, as well as a long-form, compilation video that captured the way Ivy Tech faculty connect with students to ensure their success.
